| White faïence |
| These pieces were introduced into southern France in the 16th century by itinerant potters from Spain and Italy. Their appearance reflects a desire to produce lighter ceramics with white and opaque tin glazes, making made it possible to hide the reddish colour of the clay and thus be more like Chinese porcelain. |
